GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS

Join the Upstate Falcons for an elevated basketball experience. Coach Lindsey coached and managed player development for hundreds of athletes across middle school and high school teams. It doesn’t matter where you are in your basketball journey, the Upstate Falcons have developed a strong training program and team community.

SPRING vs FALL TRYOUTS

We wanted to provide a quick rationale around Spring tryouts so you can navigate what is best for your athlete. The Spring Tryout is important for the following reasons

1.  Because we schedule games in the spring for the 2026-27 season and we want to ensure we have the numbers. 

2. This gives us the opportunity to develop the team and individually work with players during the months of May and June when we have our off-season workouts. 

3. The high school team (JVG and VG) has a team camp on June 12-13 so we need to know who plans to participate. 

4. We will populate the schedule for 2026-27 so you have plenty of visibility for planning during the season. 

5. This also allows families to financially spread the cost over more months.

We will also have a Fall Tryout late Sept/early October. If you do not make the team after the Spring tryouts the coach will give you core things to work on in preparation for the Fall tryout. If you prefer to wait to fall to do tryouts, then if we have spots available, the Fall Tryouts will be available. 

Tryout Information

DATE: October 5th

TIME:• Little Lady Falcons (3rd–5th Grade): 4:00 PM–4:45 PM• Middle School Girls – 14U (typically 6th–8th Grade): 5:00 PM–6:15 PM• High School Girls (JV/Varsity) – 18U (typically 9th–12th Grade): 6:45 PM–8:15 PMAll high school athletes will try out together, and we will evaluate each athlete to determine the best team placement.

Little Lady Falcons

Little Falcons - 3rd-5th Grade Girls Basketball

• Season Registration fee (online) = $130 - must be registered by October 11th
  Costs cover - league fee, overhead, gym rental, equipment

What to Expect

Practices Begin October 12th. Practices will be held Mondays from 4-5p. If Monday is unavailable, practice will be held one evening per week based on gym availability.

UniformsThe Uniforms will be provided within the cost of the registration. The uniforms are the property of the Upstate Falcons and reused each year to keep costs low for each family. Any damage or lost uniforms, will require a $40 fee for replacement. 

Games & TournamentsRegular Season Games will begin mid November and end later January, after which we will have post season games.

Tournaments/Post Season - Early February. On Saturdays. The number of games depends on if we win in the tournament

Registration Fees

Junior Varsity / Varsity Girls  

• Season Registration fee (online) = $400 - must be registered by October 11th

• Fundraising due on Nov 6 = $150 

• Total $400 + $150 - $550 (in full or installment plan: $250 due at registration, with the remaining balance divided into three monthly payments)

Middle School Girls

• Season Registration fee (online) = $375 - must be registered by October 11th

• Fundraising due on Nov 6 = $150  

• Total $375 + $150 = $525 (in full or installment plan: $250 due at registration, with the remaining balance divided into three monthly payments)

Costs cover - Overhead, gym rental, refs, equipment, optional off season training sessions (April-June)

What to Expect

Practices Practices begin October 6. Prior to the start of the game season, practices will generally be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, subject to gym availability. Gym locations will be Francis Asbury UMC and Taylors First Baptist.

UniformsThe Uniforms will be provided within the cost of the registration. The uniforms are the property of the Upstate Falcons and reused each year to keep costs low for each family. If a jersey is lost or damaged, you will need to cover the cost of the replacement. $80 for Jersey top and $50 for Jersey shorts. 

Games & TournamentsRegular season games will begin in mid-November and conclude in mid-February, followed by postseason play from mid-February through mid-March.

Please reserve the dates below for tournaments currently on our schedule, with the understanding that additional tournament opportunities may be added as they become available.(some dates may be changed. these are estimates based on last year’s schedule)

• Christmas Tournament (VG) — Dec 21–22, Greenville, SC

• MLK Tournament (VG) — Jan 16

• Greenville County JV Championship (JVG) — Feb 6 & 13, Greenville, SC

• Palmetto Invitational Tournament (All Teams) — Feb 18–20, Easley, SC

• Gatlinburg Homeschool National Championship (All Teams) — Mar 8–12, Gatlinburg, TN

Fundraising

While no one loves fundraising, this is a critical aspect of our program and a way we can connect with our community. We want to keep it simple and as fun as possible. If you have any ideas for raising funds, please let us know. 

We plan to have the Shoot-a-thon (Middle School and High School) on October 24th as a fun and engaging way to raise funds. This will also be a part of our Falcons Fun Night!
